Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about how our AI combines ancient wisdom with modern technology.

Ayuveda AI™ is specialized and grounded in authentic Ayurvedic texts, unlike general purpose LLMs which can "hallucinate" or provide generic web-based information.

Our system uses sophisticated RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology to reference classical texts like Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya before generating any response. This ensures that every piece of advice is traceable to legitimate Ayurvedic wisdom, providing a higher level of accuracy and safety for health-related queries.

Furthermore, general AI models often treat Ayurveda as "alternative medicine" with skepticism. Ayuveda AI™ understands the deep logic and scientific basis of Ayurvedic principles, acting as a true expert companion rather than a synthesizer of random internet articles.

Suryanamaskara (Mindful Sun Salutations) (Sūryanamaskāra)

Suryanamaskara is a foundational practice in Ayurveda and Yoga, traditionally performed in the morning to honor the sun and awaken the body's internal fire (Agni). It serves as a form of Vyayama (exercise) that, when performed with mindfulness, promotes lightness, stability, and sensory awareness.

When to practise

Best practiced in the early morning (Brahma Muhurta or shortly after) when the stomach is empty and the channels are free from excess Kapha. It is most beneficial during the spring and autumn seasons.

Beginner shortcut

Focus on the rhythm of the breath rather than the depth of the stretch. If a full sequence is too strenuous, perform a modified version using a chair for support or limit the number of rounds to maintain 'half-strength' exertion.

Where it fits in your routine

  • Follow with a gentle self-massage (Abhyanga) using appropriate oils and a warm water bath to ground the energy and soothe the muscles.

What you need

  • Yoga Mat: A non-slip surface to provide stability and comfort for the joints during the sequence.
  • Warm Sesame Oil: Optional: Used for Abhyanga (self-massage) after the practice to nourish the skin and calm the nervous system.

How to practise

  • 1. Prayer and Forward Extension: Begin in Pranamasana (Prayer Pose) with palms together. Inhale to raise arms into Hasta Uttanasana, arching gently. Exhale into Padahastasana, folding forward from the hips to touch the floor, keeping knees soft if needed.
  • 2. Equestrian and Plank: Inhale to step the right leg back into Ashwa Sanchalanasana, dropping the knee and looking up. Hold the breath briefly as you step the left leg back into Dandasana (Plank), maintaining a straight, rigid line.
  • 3. Eight-Limbed Salute and Cobra: Exhale to lower knees, chest, and chin to the mat (Ashtanga Namaskara). Inhale to slide forward into Bhujangasana (Cobra), lifting the chest while keeping elbows tucked and shoulders relaxed.
  • 4. Mountain and Completion: Exhale into Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Dog), forming an inverted 'V'. Inhale to step the right foot forward into a lunge, exhale to bring the left foot forward into a fold, then inhale to rise and return to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Supports a healthy digestive fire (Agni).
  • Promotes physical lightness and flexibility.
  • Enhances mental clarity and sensory awareness.
  • Helps reduce excess Kapha dosha.
  • Encourages a stable and firm physique.

Cautions

  • Stop immediately if you experience dizziness, sharp pain, or shortness of breath.
  • Consult a qualified practitioner if you are pregnant, elderly, or managing chronic health conditions.
  • Avoid if you have high blood pressure, hernia, or severe back issues without professional guidance.
  • Do not practice during acute fever or digestive distress.

Common mistakes

  • Exerting beyond half of one's physical capacity.
  • Practicing during acute illness, exhaustion, or immediately after a heavy meal.
  • Ignoring the body's signals of fatigue or pain.
  • Performing the sequence too rapidly without mindful breath coordination.

Dosha notes

  • vata: Practice slowly and mindfully with deep, steady breathing to avoid over-stimulating Vata.
  • kapha: A more vigorous, rhythmic pace is beneficial to help clear heaviness and stagnation.
  • pitta: Keep the practice moderate and avoid overheating; focus on a cooling, rhythmic pace.

Seasonal notes

In winter and spring, the practice can be more vigorous to help reduce accumulated Kapha. In summer, practice should be gentler and performed in the cooler morning hours to avoid overheating.

Frequently asked questions

How many rounds should I do?

Ayurveda emphasizes practicing with 'half-strength.' Start with 2–3 rounds and observe your body's response. If you feel energized rather than depleted, you may gradually increase.

Can I practice in the evening?

While morning is traditional for Kapha reduction, the practice can be done in the evening if it is gentle and does not interfere with sleep, though it is generally more stimulating.
