What you need
- Towel: To protect floors and wipe excess oil
- Warm water mug: To warm the oil bottle
- Sesame oil: Warming, nourishing — often suited to Vata
- Coconut oil: Cooling — often suited to Pitta or summer
How to practise
- 1. Warm the oil: Place the oil bottle in a mug of hot water for a few minutes.
- 2. Head massage: Apply oil to the crown and massage in circles.
- 3. Face and ears: Gently massage forehead, temples, cheeks, jaw, and earlobes.
- 4. Arms and legs: Long strokes on limbs; circles on joints.
- 5. Torso and back: Clockwise circles on chest and abdomen; reach the back as able.
- 6. Feet: Massage soles thoroughly for grounding and sleep support.
- 7. Soak and shower: Rest 5–10 minutes, then take a warm shower without scrubbing all oil away.
