Ayurvedic perspective
In Ayurveda, vascular dementia is understood as a combination of Smritibhramsha (loss of memory) and Buddhipramoha (delusion of intellect). It is characterized by Srotasavarodha (obstruction of channels) within the Manovaha Srotas (channels of the mind) and Pranavaha Srotas (respiratory/vitality channels), leading to a lack of nourishment to the Majja Dhatu (nervous tissue) due to impaired Rakta (blood) circulation.
Ayurvedic dietary guidelines
Incorporate Medhya Rasayana foods such as A2 Cow Ghee to nourish brain tissues
Consume warm, freshly cooked meals to balance Vata and maintain digestive fire
Include soaked almonds, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds daily for cognitive support
Reduce intake of heavy, fried, and processed foods that cause Kapha buildup and channel blockage
Use spices like Turmeric, Black Pepper, and Cinnamon to improve microcirculation
