Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more about how our AI combines ancient wisdom with modern technology.
Ayuveda AI™ is specialized and grounded in authentic Ayurvedic texts, unlike general purpose LLMs which can "hallucinate" or provide generic web-based information.
Our system uses sophisticated RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology to reference classical texts like Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya before generating any response. This ensures that every piece of advice is traceable to legitimate Ayurvedic wisdom, providing a higher level of accuracy and safety for health-related queries.
Furthermore, general AI models often treat Ayurveda as "alternative medicine" with skepticism. Ayuveda AI™ understands the deep logic and scientific basis of Ayurvedic principles, acting as a true expert companion rather than a synthesizer of random internet articles.

Functional neurological disorder (FND), also known as conversion disorder, is a condition where individuals experience neurological symptoms that cannot be attributed to a clear structural neurological disease or other medical condition. These symptoms are genuine and are believed to arise from abnormal functioning of the nervous system, specifically a disruption in how the brain and body communicate. From an Ayurvedic perspective, FND-like presentations are often understood as a manifestation of Vata Dosha imbalance, which governs movement, communication, and the nervous system. Ayurveda views the body and mind as deeply interconnected, and such conditions may involve disturbances in Prana (life force) and Manas (mind), leading to psychosomatic manifestations.
Common symptoms
Movement issues: tremors, jerks, difficulty walking, muscle weakness or paralysis (often confined to one side or limb, not following anatomical patterns).
Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES): episodes resembling epileptic seizures but without abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
Problems with senses: double or tunnel vision, hearing loss, numbness, tingling, or loss of touch sensation.
Thinking and memory changes: brain fog, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, losing train of thought.
Dizziness and balance issues: feeling unsteady, lightheaded, or swaying.
Speech difficulties: sudden onset of stuttering or trouble speaking.
Pain: chronic aches, sharp, stabbing, or burning sensations, including chronic migraine.
Extreme slowness and fatigue.
Episodes of unresponsiveness.
Mood and behavior changes: impatience, aggressiveness, depression, anxiety, or indifference.
Possible causes
Modern medical understanding: The exact cause is unknown, but FND is related to how the brain functions rather than structural damage. It may be triggered by neurological disorders, significant stress, emotional or physical trauma, or changes in brain function at structural, cellular, or metabolic levels. Psychological factors, such as past trauma or emotional conflicts, can play a role.
Ayurvedic perspective: Primarily rooted in the disturbance of Vata Dosha, which governs all movement and communication in the body and mind. Imbalances can arise from unhealthy lifestyle habits, improper diet, lack of exercise, stress, pollution, alcoholism, drugs, head injury, hormonal disorders, immunity issues, and trauma. Vata imbalance can overstimulate the nervous system, leading to restlessness, anxiety, tremors, and disturbed mental clarity. Obstruction (Margavarana) or depletion (Dhatu Kshaya) of Vata can make the nervous system vulnerable. Psychosomatic disorders, which FND aligns with, often originate from psychological factors with physical symptoms as a direct outcome, linked to imbalances in Manas (mind) and Sharira (body).
Medical treatment
Modern medical approach: Often requires a multidisciplinary approach. This includes: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Psychodynamic therapy to explore past trauma and emotional conflicts. Physical therapy to improve movement, coordination, and prevent muscle weakness. Occupational therapy and speech therapy. Biofeedback to manage body reactions to stress. Medications may be used to treat co-occurring conditions like depression, anxiety, insomnia, or chronic pain, but not FND itself. Relaxation and mindfulness exercises, and sometimes hypnosis, can help reduce stress and symptoms.
Ayurvedic approach: Focuses on balancing Vata Dosha, nourishing the nervous system, and restoring overall balance. This includes: Shodhana (purification therapies) like Panchakarma (Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya) to eliminate toxins and rebalance doshas. Shamana (pacification therapies) with herbal remedies (e.g., Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Jatamansi, Dashamoola) to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, promote neuro-repair, and enhance mental resilience. Specialized therapies like Shirodhara (warm oil over forehead) and Shirovasti (oil retention on scalp) to calm the nervous system, improve sleep, and modulate neuroendocrine functions. Dietary modifications focusing on warm, nourishing, easily digestible foods that pacify Vata, rich in omega-3 fats and antioxidants. Lifestyle changes including regular yoga, meditation, and pranayama (breathing exercises) to calm the mind, manage stress, and enhance neurological well-being. Sadvritta (ethical conduct) and Aachar Rasayana (guidelines for well-being) for mental and spiritual health.
Ayurvedic perspective
Ayurveda identifies Medically Unexplained Symptoms (MUS) primarily under the category of 'Anukta Vyadhi' (un-enumerated or unnamed diseases), emphasizing that the focus should remain on specific dosha imbalances, the site of manifestation (Adhisthana), and etiological factors (Samutthana). Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and MUS are often viewed as 'Manodaihika Vikara' (psychosomatic disorders), where psychological factors lead to physical symptoms. The mind (manas) and body (sharira) are intricately connected, and disturbances in the mind, such as psychosocial stress, anxiety, depression, or a history of adversity, can manifest as physical ailments. The basic pathophysiology involves the conversion of unresolved unconscious thoughts or emotional conflicts into somatic presentations. This often involves an imbalance of the doshas, particularly Vata, and the accumulation of toxins (Ama) which disrupt the flow of Prana (vital life force) and impair the functioning of the nervous system. Ayurveda adopts a holistic approach, addressing the root cause of emotional imbalances and restoring doshic equilibrium through various therapies.
Ayurvedic dietary guidelines
Consume nourishing, digestible, fresh, seasonal, and whole foods, tailored to individual dosha constitution.
Minimize processed and artificial substances.
Include foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as walnuts, flaxseeds, and fatty fish, to support brain functioning and reduce inflammation.
Eat antioxidant-rich foods like berries, colorful vegetables, and dark leafy greens (spinach, kale) to fight oxidative stress and support cognitive health.
Regularly consume cow's ghee and Amla.
Incorporate soaked almonds and walnuts daily.
Prefer whole fruits over fruit juices.
Avoid skipping meals, especially breakfast.
Increase water intake to at least 8-10 glasses regularly.
Include spices like turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, and saffron for their anti-inflammatory and brain-boosting properties.
Practice mindful eating, avoiding distractions like TV or smartphones during meals.
Avoid excess caffeine, alcohol, fried foods, processed snacks, and very spicy dishes.

Lifestyle tips
Practice Yoga and Meditation daily to calm the mind, manage stress, synchronize mind and body, improve memory, and support overall brain function. Poses like Balasana, Shavasana, and Sukhasana are recommended.
Incorporate Pranayama (breathing techniques) such as Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) and Bhramari (humming breath) to calm the nervous system, reduce anxiety, and improve oxygen flow to the brain.
Prioritize quality sleep by establishing a regular sleep routine, creating a calming bedtime environment, and avoiding screens before bed. Aim for 7-8 hours of restful sleep for nervous system rejuvenation.
Follow a balanced daily routine (Dinacharya) that aligns with natural rhythms to foster stability, harmony, and regulate circadian rhythms, which helps in grounding Vata and reducing stress.
Engage in regular physical exercise, such as walking for 30-45 minutes, to increase blood flow, release endorphins, and support brain health.
Cultivate Sattva (purity, harmony, balance) by practicing self-care, engaging in joyful activities, and nurturing positive relationships.
Harmonize Agni (digestive fire) through mindful eating, proper food combining, and gentle detoxification practices.
Avoid 'Pragyaparadha' (acting against one's own wisdom) and follow 'Sadvritta' (code of good conduct for mental health and social behavior).
Consider spiritual counseling to address underlying emotional conflicts and promote emotional well-being.
Set digital boundaries and practice reflective journaling.
Foster social connections and learn new skills to keep the brain challenged and expanded.
Practice effective communication, including learning to say 'no,' laughing aloud, and expressing emotions.
